Classroom Connection

Check out the awesome lessons taking place in our school.

8th graders are now in high school

Wednesday 8th graders went to Haltom High School to see what next year is going to be like. We had a lot of fun because we got to see the High Steppers, choir, New Image, and the theater class. We also took a tour of the school. It was awesome because we got to see the different kinds of classes and the rest of the school in order to get used to walking around. Let’s go Buffalo Pride!

Taks is over

Now that we are done with the TAKS, Mrs. Pollard's 8th period is over and we got back to all our regular classes. The class thinks they all did well and would like to thank Mrs. Pollard for the pizza party we had Friday and all the fun things we did in there.

Thanks for all the help you gave us Mrs.Pollard.

Gummy bear project

Mrs.Pollard’s 8th period class

In Mrs.Pollard’s class last week we had a gummy bear project to see if they got larger or if they shrunk down in size when in water. We had to leave the gummy bears in distilled water for a couple of minutes and then measured it checking how much it weighs. We also left them in the class room for the night and the next day they were like little chunks like mashed potato. When we took them out of the beakers; we saw that they were still a few pieces left in there, so we took them out, measured them, and tried to see if their mass had changed.

After that we have started taking test in our regular classes so Mrs.Pollard could see if the class is helping us with all the things we have done in there.

Mrs. Pollard's 8th Period Class
This year in Mrs. Pollard’s class she had a new class that helps kids with getting ready for the science TAKS test. The class is great because the students get to do experiments that PreAP students get to do. The first week we got to see a real’s pig heart. We got to touch and see how it works. The heart’s tissue is harder than the lung’s tissue. After spring break we got to do an experiment with skittles to see how elements are put together to make compounds. This is great because it gets us ready for the real science TAKS test. It takes us a step ahead of the rest of the students and it lets us experience other things we normally wouldn’t get to do.

Neverending Pi

How many digits of pi do you know? I challenge you to beat me with over 31 digits. Yes I know 31 digits of the endless pi.

3.141592653589793238462643383279.

31, read it and weap. I learned this in Mr. Ratsaphangthong's 8th period class.
